My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (Psalm 139:15-16 NIV)
No matter what’s happening in our lives right now, we have assurance that our Heavenly Father is intimately involved in the details.
In detailed and dramatic Old Testament prophecies of Christ’s coming and our future, we have the assurance that God knows the big picture of world events. He knows all that is to come. More than that, he is sovereignly working throughout Creation for eternal good through all circumstances!
But our God is not only engaged in world scale events. The Psalmist reveals that God was engaged in our lives even before our birth. He saw us in our mother’s womb. He has been with us through every year and wept for every tear.
Our Heavenly Father has been with us on every journey, and will be with us for eternity. No turn is unknown to him; no twist is a surprise to him. The Psalmist writes, “All the days ordained for me were written in your [God’s] book before one of them came to be.” When you don’t know what the future holds, trust the God who says: I know, and I’ve got this.
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust in your sovereign grace at all times and in all circumstances. You, who hold the world in your hand, know every detail of me and what’s coming. Nothing is hidden from you, and you’ve got me.
