A hallmark of the PCA’s General Assemblies is the worship services which take place Tuesday evening, Wednesday afternoon, and Thursday evening. The 2025 General Assembly host committee has announced who will preach the sermons during each of these services in Chattanooga.

Ruling Elder Steve Dowling was moderator of the 51st PCA General Assembly. He is currently an executive for a cloud computing Fortune 200 company.

He was first ordained as a ruling elder in 2003, and for the past 19 years has served as an elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Auburn, Alabama, in  Southeast Alabama Presbytery. At the General Assembly level, Dowling has been a member of the overtures committee, the committee on constitutional business, and the Standing Judicial Commission for the past nine years.

Before entering commercial business, Steve spent 27 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He became a Christian through the influence of Christians with whom he served. While an instructor at Cornell University, he came to the PCA through the ministry of New Life PCA in Ithaca, New York. Steve and his wife, Laura, have been married for 42 years. The Lord has blessed them with nine children and a growing number of grandchildren.

Rev. Dennis Louis is the senior pastor of Chattanooga Valley Presbyterian Church in Flintstone, Georgia. Dennis came to faith in his early 20s and dedicated his life to spreading the gospel. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Pensacola Christian College and received his master of divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary Jackson. He and his wife Theresa have four children. Dennis is humbled to have many godly mentors and friends who care for his soul and point him to Christ.

Rev. Dennis Johnson is assistant pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, Tennessee, and professor emeritus of practical theology at Westminster Seminary California, where he taught for 36 years after pastorates in New Jersey and California. While teaching at WSC, he was associate pastor of New Life PCA, in Escondido, California. He and his wife Jane have been married 55 years. They delight in their four children and their spouses, along with their 16 grandchildren. He has written “Him We Proclaim,” “Walking with Jesus through His Word,” commentaries on Acts, Philippians, Hebrews, and Revelation, and most recently, “Perfect Priest for Weary Pilgrims: A Theology of Hebrews.”
