RTS Announces Scholarship to Encourage Women
By Natalie Atwell

Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) Charlotte,  is expanding its Women in Ministry Initiative with a newly announced Women in Ministry Scholarship. Primed with approximately $300,000 in donations and designed to encourage female students going into ministry, the scholarship is intended to fund upward of 50% of tuition fees for one or two women each year pursuing master’s degrees at the Charlotte campus.

Dr. Michael Kruger, president of RTS Charlotte, says he is optimistic this scholarship will encourage the growing number of female students on campus.

“We have been so blessed to have a vibrant and growing community of female seminary students here,” says Kruger. “God has used their faithful ministry to bless His church in so many important ways. Our hope is that this new scholarship allows the Charlotte campus to equip even more women who can be sent out as laborers into God’s kingdom.”

This scholarship joins other efforts to equip women with biblical training, including a new Teaching Women to Teach module starting this fall. Aimed at laywomen who want to teach the Bible in their communities and led by seminary faculty, the 16-week course is already full and wait-listed.

The seminary hopes to see funding for the Women in Ministry Scholarship continue to grow in the coming years to increase the number of recipients annually as well as the amount of assistance.
