The PCA’S Administrative Committee (AC) recently formed a committee to make recommendations for the celebration of the denomination’s 50th anniversary.

Founded in 1973, the PCA was formed by 260 congregations with more than 41,000 members. Today, the PCA has nearly 2,000 congregations with an estimated combined membership of some 400,000.

The committee has been tasked to recommend appropriate ways to remember and celebrate God’s faithfulness over the last five decades.

“When the first Assembly was gathered in Birmingham, those faithful elders prayed that God would use their humble efforts to advance Christ’s kingdom and the Reformed faith around the world,” said Bryan Chapell, stated clerk of the PCA. “Their sacrifice and courage continues to bear fruit decades later. It is right for God’s people to celebrate His goodness. As a denomination, we need to find tangible ways to mark this important milestone.”

The General Assembly 50th Celebration Committee includes members appointed by the PCA Administrative Committee, the PCA Historical Center sub-committee, and the 50th General Assembly Host Committee of Covenant Presbytery.

A commemorative issue of byFaith will be created and made available, for free, to all PCA members. The PCA’s Golden Jubilee will take place in 2023 when the General Assembly is scheduled to convene in Memphis, Tennessee.
