Registration for the 52nd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America opens today. The meeting is hosted by Tennessee Valley Presbytery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the week of June 23-27, 2025. The Assembly will convene at the Chattanooga Convention Center, which is supported by many hotels throughout the city rather than one large hotel. For the first time the PCA Administrative Committee is using a housing platform to help commissioners find the hotels that work best for them within the contracted prices and properties available.
The city enjoys a strong connection with the PCA thanks to the presence and influence of Covenant College, which sits atop Lookout Mountain. The college will be hosting a special Assembly-wide event for attendees on the evening of Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with food and festivities on its campus. Registration is required. Transportation will be provided between the convention center and the college.
Chattanooga is also home to 25 PCA congregations, three of which are located less than two miles from the convention center. The city has 10 PCA congregations within its limits and 15 more in the larger metropolitan area. Tennessee Valley Presbytery includes five counties in northwest Georgia and runs north through eastern Tennessee, including Knoxville. The presbytery is in the midst of a church planting initiative that aims to plant 20 new congregations in its bounds by 2027.
Known as the Scenic City, Chattanooga is consistently ranked as one of the best destinations in America, welcoming over 16 million visitors annually. Named one of the top cities for outdoor recreation, Chattanooga straddles the Tennessee River and is surrounded by mountains, offering visitors countless opportunities to hike, climb, swim, bike, run, and paddle.
The theme of this year’s Assembly is “Lift Your Eyes.” The preachers for the three worship services have already been announced. Seminar proposals are being accepted through the end of the month.
This is the third time the PCA’s annual gathering will be held in Chattanooga. The 33rd General Assembly was held there in 2005 when Ruling Elder Howard Q. Davis, Jr., served as moderator. The 43rd General Assembly was also hosted in Chattanooga in 2015 when Ruling Elder Jim Wert was elected to preside over the meeting. The only cities to host the Assembly more than three times are Atlanta (5 times) and Birmingham (4 times).
