Devotion for March 29
By byFaith Staff

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you (Psalm 32:8).

A new computer, a new car, or a new phone with no instruction manual — that’s a recipe for frustration! That’s why a new life in Christ comes with God’s Word as our instruction manual.

Following the instructions doesn’t make us new, but it sure makes the life God intends for our eternal blessing much easier to figure out and to live.

The world is still complicated enough that we can feel like we’re on our own, but we’re not. God’s instructions are an expression of his continuing care, a key way that he keeps his eye on us.

The care provided by the instructions is matched by the grace of a watchful God who’s Holy Spirit provides the wisdom to understand him, the care to protect us, and the pardon to bless us.

The grace that provides God’s instructions simultaneously protects and forgives to stimulate love and trust of his Word. Then, the more we follow that counsel, the more we sense his care. He keeps his caring eye on us by keeping his Word before us.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your Word that instructs me in the way I should go, and for your watchful eye that protects me as I do. Please help me to treasure all the aspects of your grace that keep me following you and returning to your care.
