The church may sometimes unconsciously adopt the world’s definitions of success, says Covenant college president J. Derek Halvorson, things like a prestigious education, money, social status, or an impressive title. A better benchmark, Halvorson suggests, might be found in Genesis 5, the book of the generations of Adam. There we come across Enoch and the things he was noted for. And several things that aren’t mentioned.
