Lifetime of Ministry

Covenant Theological Seminary is relaunching its Lifetime of Ministry Conference on Nov. 3-4 with “The Changing Self and the Challenge of Ministry,” Dr. Carl Trueman, professor of biblical and religious studies at Grove City College, and Dr. Robbie Griggs, professor of systematic theology at Covenant Seminary will be the featured speakers.

The conference will focus on current debates about what constitutes the good life and the speed with which new visions of human flourishing have multiplied in our culture, most evident in recent rapid changes in ideas and practices surrounding human sexuality. The speakers will help ministry leaders make sense of changing conceptions of the self and provide resources to get their bearings theologically as they seek to walk in obedience to Christ and love their neighbors.

“The level of cultural turbulence surrounding the church and its ministry leaders is at an all-time high, and much of that anxiety surrounds issues of sexuality,” says CTS President Tom Gibbs. “As all of us have been impacted by the negative messages of our confused culture, pastors need to be equipped to respond with compassion for the hurting with the gospel certainty of God’s redemptive purpose.”

You may find more information about the conference and register here. CTS’ Lifetime of Ministry conference began in the 1990s. Previous speakers included Jerram Barrs, Jerry Bridges, Bryan Chapell, Tim Keller, and J.I. Packer. The conference is one way the seminary further equips and encourages church leaders in the task of ministry, service, and care.
