Stuart Patterson went home to be with the Lord yesterday Oct. 27, 2014. He was 84.

For the past 42 years, Patterson was ruling elder at Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville, South Carolina. According to Mel Duncan, administrator at the church, Patterson taught through every book of the Bible while serving the church as a Sunday school teacher.

Patterson was among the PCA’s founding fathers. He was the dean of faculty at Furman University, and a NASA project scientist. He also served on the board of several Christian organizations, including Greenville Presbyterian Seminary, Bailey Manor Retirement Home, Bethany Christian Services, and Creation Study Group.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 31 at 11:15 a.m. at The Second Presbyterian Church of Greenville, 105 River Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
