Lawyer, abuse survivor, advocate, and author Rachael Denhollander has joined the PCA’s study committee on domestic abuse and sexual assault. She will serve as an advisory member, along with experts like Diane Langberg, Darby Strickland, Barbara Shaffer, and Anne Marie Goudzwaard.
Denhollander earned national attention for her clear presentation of the gospel in her victim impact statement at the sentencing of Larry Nassar, the USA Gymnastics doctor who sexually abused her and dozens of other young women. But Denhollander has also spoken candidly about how she and her family were deeply hurt when their church dismissed her perspective on abuse in Sovereign Grace Ministries, a ministry with which her church was affiliated.

“Rachael Denhollander has the mentality and perspective of someone who suffered abuse in a church setting, as well as the wealth of experience in fighting for victims in the recent case involving USA Gymnastics. We are very grateful to have her bring that perspective and experience to bear in the work of our committee,” said committee chair Tim LeCroy.
In September 2019, Denhollander released her memoir, “What is a Girl Worth?” and a children’s book “What is a Little Girl Worth?”. She also contributed to the church training curriculum, “Becoming a Church That Cares Well for the Abused.”
