PCA Prayer Guide Begins Second Year

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us” (1 John 5:14).

The PCA Administrative Committee is excited to continue mobilizing prayer across the denomination by providing a practical tool to help guide and encourage our prayers.

Last year, the AC introduced a year-long prayer guide designed to help the PCA pray together for the denomination, its churches, and its ministries. Now, as this effort enters its second year, the prayer guide returns with updates and additional features to further equip the PCA to pray faithfully and consistently throughout the year.

Over the course of 365 days, you can receive prompts to pray for every PCA church, church plant, presbytery, committee, agency, RUF campus ministry, and MTW missionary serving worldwide. The prayer guide begins this month and can be accessed online, through a weekly email, and via social media platforms. Now, users can opt in to receive the daily prayer guide texted weekly directly to their mobile device.

According to Stated Clerk Fred Greco, the prayer initiative is one of the most practical and important ways for the AC to foster denominational unity while seeking Christ’s blessing on his church:

Our Savior invites and encourages us to prayerfully depend on him to grow his church. Prayer is how we ask Christ to advance the peace, purity, and mission of the church. I hope our members will join me in going before our Savior and asking his blessing on our churches and the world. May we go frequently and fervently to the Lord in prayer, anticipating that he will do more than we ask or imagine.

The prayer guide is the only resource of its kind where you can pray for every nation and every PCA congregation over the course of 12 months. Committees and agencies have often facilitated more targeted prayer initiatives for their particular ministries, but this prayer guide is a practical way to pray for the whole church.

Each day of the week highlights churches, church plants, campus ministries, and one country to lift up in prayer. On Sundays, the prayer focus is on presbyteries, committees, and agencies. The list of churches, church plants, and campus ministries has been updated to reflect the latest additions. We have heard encouraging testimonies from churches that were featured in the guide during particularly challenging seasons and shared how the texts, emails, and prayers they received from those interceding for them were a tremendous source of encouragement.

Individuals, small groups, and churches can download the entire guide, subscribe for weekly emails, sign up for weekly text messages, or follow along and share it on social media. The goal is to unify our hearts and keep our denomination’s work before the throne of grace.
