Since 2017, the PCA Foundation has produced a generosity devotional as a tool for churches to encourage generosity among members. In the past, the Foundation has commissioned teaching elders to write the devotional or licensed it from Christian publishers. This year, the Foundation has partnered with Covenant Theological Seminary to create “Cheerful Giving.”

For 70 years, Covenant Theological Seminary has equipped servants of God for the work of ministry. As the denominational seminary of the PCA, Covenant trains students in the Bible, theology, ministry, and counseling and has alumni serving in all 50 states and over 50 countries.

“In this devotional, we want to help you discover a heightened joy in God’s gift of a new generous spirit,” said Tim Townsend, president of the PCA Foundation. “I’m thankful for our friends at Covenant Seminary who have provided the content this year.”

This year’s devotional is authored by professors from Covenant Theological Seminary. The five-day devotional focuses on different aspects of God’s gifts.

  • Day 1: “The Grace of Giving” by Dr. Bob Yarbrough, Professor of New Testament, Covenant Theological Seminary
  • Day 2: “Every Good Work” by Dr. Robbie Griggs,
Associate Professor of Systematic Theology, Covenant Theological Seminary
  • Day 3: “The Eager Giver” by Dr. Mark Pfuetze,
Associate Professor of Counseling, Covenant Theological Seminary
  • Day 4: “The Generosity Struggle” by Dr. Bradley J. Matthews,
Associate Professor New Testament, Vice President of Academics, Covenant Theological Seminary
  • Day 5: “Delightful Generosity” by Dr. Aaron Goldstein
Associate Professor of Old Testament, Covenant Theological Seminary

The Foundation invites churches to visit its website and order copies of the devotional for their congregation at no charge. Translations are also available in Korean and Spanish.
