70 Years of Commitment to Reformed, Christ-centered Education
Sponsored content from Covenant College
Covenant College has been committed to theology, traditions, and values of the reformed faith for 70 years—and still is! Accomplished, Christian faculty annually affirm the inerrancy of Scripture and the Westminster Confession of Faith, teaching all course material through a biblical lens. This uncompromising foundation gives young minds the freedom to explore academics and ask hard questions while receiving practical and relevant knowledge in over 90 areas of study.
Commitment to Quality
Covenant students are equipped to approach every discipline with confidence and curiosity, growing in their identity as image-bearers and preparing for their life’s calling. The college’s desire to provide a quality education starts at admission. For Covenant, the average ACT score range of incoming students is 24-30. This caliber of student admitted to Covenant is prepared to meet and exceed the rigorous academic expectations and is dedicated to completing their education, which the college sees evidenced in their college-wide retention rate of 92%.
“One thing that attracted me to Covenant,” says junior David Hopkins, “Is that Covenant offers both a biblical worldview and a worldly understanding, guiding students to discern and use skills to further the Kingdom of Christ by using the biblical worldview in a broken world.” He continues, “Covenant offers a hands-on, real-world education that prepares me for the future but also teaches me how to be Christlike today.”
Through Covenant’s distinctive, liberal arts approach, students graduate with more than just a college degree but a firm foundation in their beliefs, equipped to impact their community, church, and the culture around them.

Commitment to Christ and Scripture
“In all things Christ preeminent” isn’t just the college’s motto, it is the shared commitment of the entire Covenant community. Education majors are taught to see their future students as image-bearers, engineering students are encouraged to be excellent engineers for God’s glory, art majors are challenged to consider the role that creativity can play in the church and in their local communities, and accounting students are prepared to make the world more prosperous by loving God and neighbor through business—just to name a few.
Outside of the classroom, Christ-centered community is evident on every corner of the campus including in athletics, residence life, student clubs, and chapel worship. Covenant encourages and requires much more of its students than just chapel attendance, which occurs three times a week. Every semester the whole campus breaks from classes for Day of Prayer, small groups meet regularly to discuss various community topics, every Thursday students gather for a Public Reading of Scripture, and every Sunday night residence halls host weekly Prayer & Praise gatherings.
Student athlete and recent grad Josiah Mellott describes the impact of Covenant’s overarching mission and motto in his life, saying, “At the entrance of our campus, we have a sign that the team runs past every day which says, ‘In All Things Christ Preeminent.’ During my four years, it has been impressed on me how this is not just a slogan or nice thought Covenant slaps on things—instead it is the very foundation of everything we do. Whether I am in the classroom, on the track or trails, or simply living in community with others, Covenant has challenged me to do all things for the glory of Christ.”

Commitment to PCA Families
As the college of the PCA, Covenant benefits from a rich theological tradition and a strong anchoring in the midst of ever-changing cultural tides. The college desires to serve PCA families by offering additional financial support for students from PCA churches and those from ministers and missionary families. Every current PCA student with need receives at least 50% off of tuition, with the average PCA family receiving more after scholarships and other applicable donor funds are applied.
The Church Scholarship Promise (CSP) is a unique program that enables churches to offer financial support for their students who attend Covenant. PCA students who do not come from a CSP giving church are eligible to receive the $1000 PCA Grant every year based on church membership at the time. PCA ministers and missionaries students can receive the $5000 PCA Ministers Grant every year.

Commitment to the Church
From the moment a student arrives on campus, local church attendance is prioritized through new student orientation. The student development office not only offers students a list of local churches in their welcome packets, but upperclassmen have created a culture of inviting new students to their churches (including a RideShare program for carpooling) and professors often invite student groups to their homes for a family meal. When students attend a local church, they observe the many ways Covenant employees are actively serving the church as officers, teachers, worship leaders, and church workers. Nearly 20% of Covenant staff and faculty are ordained elders and deacons in PCA churches, and 96% of our PCA grads state that they are regular attendees or members of their local church.
“Covenant does a wonderful job at pushing students to be a part of a church body from day one. Freshmen are encouraged to visit churches with the hope of getting plugged in,” describes recent graduate Sarah Holler. “By being pushed to explore different churches in Chattanooga, I ended up finding a church home that has supported me and welcomed me with open arms. I feel very confident that when I leave the Chattanooga area I will be able to find a strong church body because of what I have learned while a student.”
