If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him. (Matt. 7:11)

My first car was an import that an American car company sold for only one year. The maintenance record made the compact car a giant nightmare for all its owners. Not until my income allowed me to purchase another did I realize that cars aren’t supposed to break down every few weeks. 

One of those breakdowns occurred as I was heading home from college for the holidays. I was still a hundred miles from home, but I didn’t panic. I called my father. 

Even though I knew my late-night rescue would take my father’s time and energy, I knew I could call on him. All my life he had proven his commitment to my care.

That is why Jesus reminds us that we are calling to our Heavenly Father when he teaches, “Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Mt. 7:7-8).  

When our lives have become a nightmare of our own mistakes and miscalculations, we still can call out to our Heavenly Father who has proven his eternal care through the grace of Jesus. He will answer your call and provide what is best to help you.

Father, thank you for always hearing my prayers and for always responding with the best care that divine wisdom and a gracious heart know to provide!
