On Sunday, December 14, the congregation of Saint Andrew’s Chapel voted to withdraw from the Presbyterian Church in America. Once the presbytery received official news of the vote from the church, the presbytery’s clerk, in collaboration with its Administrative Committee, sent the following letter to the elders of Saint Andrew’s Chapel. The letter was sent on December 19 and signed by TE Don Mountan, the stated clerk of Central Florida Presbytery.
Dear Brothers in Christ, the Session of Saint Andrew’s Chapel,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
On behalf of the Central Florida Presbytery, I write to acknowledge receipt of your formal notice of withdrawal from the Presbyterian Church in America, effective December 14, 2025.
This letter has been reviewed by the Administrative Committee of the Central Florida Presbytery and is sent with its support. We receive the news of Saint Andrew’s withdrawal with genuine sadness. While we recognize that the past several years have been marked by difficulty, we remain grateful to God for the shared fellowship, ministry, and labor in the gospel that we have enjoyed together. We thank God for the many ways Saint Andrew’s Chapel has sought to carry out the Great Commission in central Florida and around the world.
At the same time, we respect the decision the congregation has made and pray that the Lord will grant you wisdom, unity, and fruitfulness in the days ahead. It is our sincere hope that your ongoing ministry will continue to bear lasting fruit for the glory of Christ and the good of His people. To broaden participation in our respect, prayer and hope for Saint Andrew’s, a copy of this letter will be sent to the Sessions and Teaching Elders of Central Florida Presbytery.
Please be assured of our prayers for the elders, the pastors, the diaconate, the congregation at large, and all who labor among you in the name of our Savior.
