Chaplain John Robert Fiol passed into the Lord’s eternal rest, November 11, 2014.

Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia, his son and daughter, Kevin Fiol and Kristin (Brian)Turner and step son and daughter, Rachel (Rob) Paul and Peter Loescher and 8 beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Bruce (Judy), David (Eleanor) and Steve (Becky).

Rev. J. Robert Fiol was born and raised in India by missionary parents, Frank and Esther. He is a graduate of Covenant College and Covenant Seminary. He received a direct commission as a US Navy chaplain in 1967 and faithfully served for 30 years. He served a variety of assignments both with Naval and Marine Corps units stateside and overseas (including 2 tours in Vietnam, a tour in Bahrain, another in Iceland, and Command Chaplain on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72).

Upon completion of his naval service he relocated to Atlanta, GA to assume the position of Assistant to the Stated Clerk of the Presbyterian Church in America. Bob retired in 2011 from this position and lived in Birmingham, Alabama.

A memorial service will be held Nov. 20 at 2:00 p.m Nov. 20 at Danberry Independent Living in Hoover, Alabama. A second service will be in Atlanta, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, on Dec. 13 at 10:00 a.m.
