The PCA Administrative Committee is excited to announce a new initiative to mobilize prayer for the entire denomination. Over the course of 365 days, subscribers will receive prompts to pray for every PCA church, church plant, presbytery, committee, agency, RUF campus ministry, and MTW missionary serving worldwide. The prayer guide will be available beginning in October in multiple formats: online, as a weekly email, and through social media platforms.
According to Provisional Stated Clerk John Bise, creating an avenue for denominational prayer can increase denominational unity:
We exist to promote the peace, purity, and mission of the church. It seems facilitating prayer by the whole church and for the whole church is one of the primary ways we can do that. You can’t read Acts without noticing how central prayer was to the advancement of Christ’s kingdom. If we want to see Jesus bless and prosper his gospel through the Presbyterian Church in America, it will require us to be a praying church.
Committees and agencies have often facilitated prayer initiatives for their particular ministries, but this prayer guide is the first resource of its kind providing a practical way to pray for the whole church. The daily guide will highlight five churches, one church plant, one campus ministry, and one country to lift up in prayer. On Sundays, the prayers focus on presbyteries, committees, and agencies.
Another New Resource for Churches
The AC also recently created a church resource page for leaders providing practical tools such as instructional videos, key documents, and templates to assist with common issues church officers face. Topics range from incorporation and record keeping to church discipline.
These resources reflect the AC’s vision to connect and coordinate PCA churches, presbyteries, and assembly ministries in their responsibilities and relationships through communications, resources, and arrangements that help our branch of Christ’s Church fulfill its mission.
