Since the originally scheduled meeting of the 48th General Assembly has been postponed, the PCA Administrative Committee is providing a way for churches and members to read progress reports from PCA ministries and engage with resources from previous General Assemblies.
The online initiative has been named The Continuing Church, a description used by the PCA founding elders and a reminder that the churchs mission and ministry continue even when the Assembly is postponed. The initiative is not meant to be a substitute for General Assembly; rather, its purpose is to make reports and resources more widely available to encourage and edify all parts of Christs body.
At The Continuing Church, visitors can access informational reports for each committee and agency. Moreover, sermon videos from previous General Assemblies are available, including messages from Irwyn Ince, Alex Jun, Tim Keller, and Randy Pope. Visitors can also watch panel discussions involving denominational leaders and study committees addressing topics like race, sexuality, and the role of women.
We often speak of the connectivity Presbyterians enjoy, said John Robertson, PCA business administrator. Though we are not as connected this year as wed like to be with the postponement of the 48th General Assembly, we are hopeful this resource hub will encourage churches and members as they worship and serve in their communities.
