First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way (1 Timothy 2:1-2).
O Sovereign and most powerful LORD, you rule with truth and grace. By your word you created this world and the universe in which it exists. Every nation and all those who hold office belong to you. We, your humble church, pray for the 47th president of the United States, Donald John Trump, and his presidency.
King David towards the end of his life, declared,
The God of Israel spoke,
the Rock of Israel said to me:
“When one rules over people in righteousness,
when he rules in the fear of God,
he is like the light of morning at sunrise
on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain
that brings grass from the earth” (2 Samuel 23:3-4, NIV).
O LORD, may your words given some 3,000 years past be our plea for the 47th president. May our nation long for your righteousness. We ask that your light of virtue, mercy, justice, and decency dominate the heart, words, and actions of this president. May Donald Trump seek and know the light of your gospel. May he understand and apply your counsel as revealed in the Old Testament and New Testament to his life and service as president of the United States. May his daily prayer be that your will be accomplished on this earth as in heaven.
O LORD, pour out upon our land your grace and love in such abundance that the weak and strong, poor and rich, men, women, children, and those yet to be born receive your blessings –“the brightness after the rain.”
O Sovereign LORD, we pray that President Trump will fear you. It was King Solomon who said, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:7). Give this president, Vice President JD Vance, the cabinet, advisors, and staff your light and wisdom. Surround the president with individuals who value truth far beyond earthly wisdom and experience. Humble those who serve our nation by your presence and knowledge of your sovereign power.
We pray for President Trump’s family. Bless this president and his wife, Melania, with your protection during a life season that brings great stress. Provide them with the gift of your love so that they may extend it to each other. Please protect their children and grandchildren.
May this president, and those who serve with and for him, bring to you honor, glory, and praise.
We pray in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
