The Host Committee has announced the men chosen to preach during the worship services at the 2027 General Assembly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The worship services will take place Tuesday evening, Wednesday before dinner, and Thursday morning, a change from previous Assemblies when the Thursday service took place after dinner.
At its meeting earlier this month, the Permanent Committee for the Administrative Committee approved the General Assembly docket with the Thursday worship service taking place at 8:00 a.m. PCA Stated Clerk Fred Greco said the intention behind the change was to shorten the break before the Thursday evening business session.
“This will help the Assembly complete its business on Thursday and provide certainty to commissioners that the Assembly will not meet on Friday morning,” Greco said.
The preachers will deliver sermons based on the 2027 Assembly theme, “Come and See.”
On Tuesday, June 14, Richard Phillips will preach. Phillips is the senior minister of Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville, South Carolina. He has degrees from the University of Michigan, the University of Pennsylvania, Westminster Theological Seminary, and Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. The author of 50 books, he is a member of the executive council for the Gospel Reformation Network, a trustee of Westminster Theological Seminary, and series co-editor for the Reformed Expository Commentary series. He has been married to his wife, Sharon, for 34 years, and they have five children.
On Wednesday, Dan Jackson, pastor of Jacob’s Well Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin, will preach. After struggling to find a church with gospel-centered, expository preaching in Western Wisconsin, Jackson attended Covenant Theological Seminary with the goal of returning to Wisconsin to plant such a church that would go on to plant other churches. Through the Jacksons, God planted Jacob’s Well Church in 2010, and Jacob’s Well now has planted three daughter churches that have gone on to plant daughter and granddaughter churches. Jackson and his wife, Tricia, are proud parents of four children.
Geoff Ziegler will preach at the Thursday morning worship service. Ziegler has been the senior pastor of Trinity PCA in Western Springs, Illinois, since 2009 and is a visiting lecturer in practical theology at Reformed Theological Seminary Orlando. A graduate of Moore Theological College in Sydney, Australia, Ziegler earned his doctorate in systematic theology from Wheaton College. He is the author of “Free to Be Sons of God” and the Galatians study for Crossway’s “Knowing the Bible” series. He and his wife of 30 years, Jennifer, have three adult sons.
