Administrative Committee Launches Survey on General Assembly Locations

PCA GA SURVEY

The PCA’s Administrative Committee is inviting every elder to complete a special survey to assist them in studying and reporting on General Assembly meeting locations. The AC hired a professional research firm to create the survey and analyze the feedback.

When the 52nd General Assembly met in Chattanooga, the Assembly approved an overture directing the Administrative Committee to research “necessary considerations and best practices for selecting and affording host cities and venues, and the impact of location on broad commissioner attendance across the PCA.” When the overture was presented to the Assembly, the following rationale was provided in support of it:

Post-Covid costs, recent historically high GA attendance, and even higher commissioner registration numbers required to break even, make it imperative that the Administrative Committee research General Assembly arrangements as they bear on future attendance, costs, and fees that affect our GA’s ability to function as a truly representative body responsible for determining the doctrinal fidelity and gospel mission of the larger PCA.

This survey is an important step in the AC’s efforts to fulfill the Assembly’s mandate. To ensure objective results, the survey is being conducted by an independent research group. The AC hopes to gather input from thousands of teaching and ruling elders across the denomination in order to better understand how location, travel, costs, scheduling, and other factors influence General Assembly participation.

The survey is being made available to elders through a link being provided to every pastor and presbytery clerk. The link is not being shared publicly in order to make sure only PCA Teaching and Ruling Elders may take the survey. All Teaching or Ruling Elders are encouraged to complete it, whether or not they have ever attended General Assembly.

“Thank you for taking a few minutes to help us faithfully carry out the assignment given by the General Assembly,” said Stated Clerk Fred Greco. “Your participation will help shape future decisions and ensure that the voices of elders from across the PCA are heard.”

If you are a PCA teaching or ruling elder and did not receive a survey link by mail or email, please contact ac@pcanet.org or your pastor for the link.
