The 52nd General Assembly directed the appointment of an ad interim committee for the purpose of proposing revisions to the Directory for Worship which the committee would bring to the floor of the Assembly to be considered for constitutional change. The AIC’s work over the past year has been deeply encouraging and fruitful.

While the AIC is pleased with the revision and believes it to be a helpful update, a change of this size and substance is rare in PCA history. In recent days, elders have raised thoughtful procedural questions regarding the best way for the AIC to present its work on the Directory for Worship to the Assembly for a vote to begin the amendment process in accordance with BCO 26 and the Rules of Assembly Operation. The AIC is in ongoing consultation with the provisional Stated Clerk and other trusted parliamentarians to chart a path forward.

To provide time for answers to emerge, the AIC for the revised Directory for Worship has elected to bring a brief report this year. Over the next year, the AIC will continue to invite ongoing feedback and plan to bring a report with a proposal for a revised Directory for Public Worship to the floor of the 54th General Assembly.

We humbly ask for your continued prayers as we carry out the charge the 52nd General Assembly entrusted to us.
