In a changing world, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever,” and He has been faithfully building His church in the PCA since its beginning. This seminar will look at trends from the past and present as it looks to the future of church planting in the PCA. It draws on the wisdom of Phil Douglass, who, in his 32 years of teaching, has watched Covenant Seminary grads plant some 280 PCA churches. The seminar will also touch on leadership and succession trends.

Our culture’s identity crisis makes sharing the gospel more complex than it used to be. Instead of trying to “sell” our friends what we believe, we ought to let the questions of their hearts lead the conversation.

This seminar looks at 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and draws on 1 Timothy 4:12-16 to describe the Spirit-empowered godliness that allows pastors to qualify for and remain in ministry, even as they repent of sin, seek grace, and aim to progress in holiness. This seminar includes observations on the concept of capital or deadly vices; current moral issues in the PCA; and our tendency to focus on family and sex when assessing moral qualifications to the neglect of other vital issues.
