As the new year begins, here are five PCA-related topics to keep your eye on over the next 12 months.

1. New Hires

Two permanent committees will be hiring new leaders. We anticipate that nominees for PCA stated clerk and Mission to North America coordinator will both be named before the 53rd General Assembly.

2. Study Committee Reports

The PCA has two study committees underway, one examining Christian nationalism and another studying the PCA Directory of Worship. It is unclear if either committee will bring a final report or recommendations to the 53rd General Assembly.

3. OPC’s Birthday

Our friends in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church will celebrate the denomination’s 90th birthday in 2026. Throughout the year, we look forward to reflections on the history and ongoing significance of this NAPARC denomination.

4. BCO Amendments

The PCA’s 87 presbyteries are currently considering several BCO amendments approved by the 2025 General Assembly, and the slate of overtures to the 2026 Assembly suggesting BCO amendments continues to grow. It will be interesting to watch which amendments garner the necessary support for ratification.

5. Growth Metrics

At the congregational level, PCA membership has been steadily growing. The committees and agencies have been growing too, with significant increases at Covenant College, PCA Foundation, Geneva Benefits Groups, Ridge Haven, and more. It will be interesting to see if these trends continue in the new year.

Of course, only the Lord knows what the year will bring. If previous years are any indication, issues and events will emerge that are not on anyone’s list, and some of the stories we expect to cover might not materialize. But we will continue to look in faith to the God who has been our help in ages past and will be our hope for years to come.
