Mercy ministry isnt simply one aspect of church life; for Apple it is an essential element of discipleship.
“It was a response to the Gospel calling us to love our neighbors as ourselves,” Anderson explains. “The church wanted to bring a balance between word and deed ministry and create an appealing service opportunity for men.”
These believers seek out a population avoided by most — prostitutes, the homeless, the addicted. Their small gifts and genuine interest have opened many doors for ministry to those on society’s bottom rung. In fact, “providing care for the uncared for” is the ministry’s tagline.
“We had girls as young as 10 who helped during the sewing process and helped man the boutique. It was confirmation for me that all people find great joy in serving.”
