Theologian, author and singer/songwriter Dr. Michael Milton has been named President and Sr. Fellow of the newly founded D. James Kennedy Institute for Christianity and Culture (DJK Institute), established in honor of the beloved pastor and teacher, who taught the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

The announcement was made by Jennifer Kennedy Cassidy, daughter of the late Dr. D. James Kennedy, at the launch of the second edition of Dr. Milton’s book, Silent No More, at the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The vision of the DJK Institute is to continue the Christ-centered legacy of Dr. D. James Kennedy by declaring the biblical message of Jesus Christ and providing evangelistic outreach through popular and scholarly works in books, music, and missions. In addition to the ministry of evangelism and education, the DJK Institute will also serve as a “think tank” for faith and culture and will provide scholarships to support a new generation of pastors.

Dr. Milton, the former Chancellor/CEO of Reformed Theological Seminary, is the founder and current president and CEO of Faith for Living, Inc. Dr. Milton, a Presbyterian minister (PCA) was in the first graduating class of Knox Theological Seminary, which was founded by Dr. D. James Kennedy. Dr. Milton was the first recipient of the annual preaching prize at Knox, and also the prize in systematic theology. He also was the first Knox Seminary pastoral intern and assistant to Dr. D. James Kennedy.

“The Institute is literally a dream come true,” Milton says. “I dreamed that the legacy of my late, great mentor, Dr. Kennedy, needed to be continued. When I awoke, I began writing down my vision for an institute that would be not only a ‘think tank’ for faith and culture, but a fellows program to help perpetuate the optimistic Kingdom-minded vision of D. James Kennedy in the lives and ministries of future pastors. I brought this dream to Mrs. Kennedy and his daughter, Jennifer. Together we dedicated it to the Lord in prayer.”

“I am so honored that the Kennedy family has asked me to lead the D. James Kennedy Institute, and I am delighted to now share this vision with others,” Milton continues.

The announcement follows news in September from Truth In Action Ministries that Dr. Milton has been tapped as teaching pastor of Truth That Transforms with Dr. Michael Milton, a television ministry which launched in 1974 as The Coral Ridge Hour with Dr. D. James Kennedy.

The television ministry, which reached a peak audience of 3 million viewers in 200 countries during its tenure, has continued with Dr. Kennedy’s messages since he passed away in 2007.

Truth That Transforms with Dr. Michael Milton airs at 9 p.m. C.T. Sundays on the NRB Network, immediately following Kennedy Classics, featuring the sermons of Dr. D. James Kennedy. Kennedy Classics also airs on The Church Channel on Sundays at 9 a.m. C.T. Both shows are hosted by Dr. Jerry Newcombe and Jennifer Kennedy Cassidy.

Truth in Action Ministries, which changed its name in 2011 from Coral Ridge Ministries, was founded by Dr. D. James Kennedy, the founder of Evangelism Explosion International, Knox Theological Seminary, Coral Ridge Ministries and Westminster Academy in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
