Link: A New Way to Explore Missions

The Lord is calling us not only to pray for workers, but to send His workers, support His workers, and to be His workers. In response to this, Mission to the World (MTW) is hosting a new event called Link, an interactive way to explore missions more fully. The first Link event will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina this August.

In Matthew 9:35-10:1, when Jesus looks out into the crowd, what does He see? He sees a harvest ready to be picked. And in this harvest He sees those who will carry forth this message of the Kingdom of God.

What does He do? He turns to His disciples and He teaches them to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest fields.

And our Lord calls us to pray these same prayers—the field is ripe and ready for picking. Are we praying?

In Matthew 10 there is a transition. Before this chapter, Jesus was the one teaching, preaching, and performing the signs. But here He sends out His disciples to carry forth His ministry. To join Him in proclaiming the Kingdom of God. To join the story of God’s redemptive purposes.

That’s why MTW is introducing a new way to learn more about getting involved in this story. At Link, MTW’s mobilization team and several MTW missionaries will explore topics including calling, current opportunities to serve (for six months or more), preparing for missions, and dealing with common obstacles.

Link will take place August 28-29 in Charlotte, North Carolina. To register go to: www.linkcharlotte2015.eventbrite.com. The deadline is August 21. Or for more information, email MTW at go@mtw.org and mention Link.
