Ruling Elder and outgoing General assembly (GA) moderator Alexander Jun, along with teaching elders Joe Novenson and Randy Pope, will speak during the times of corporate worship at the 2018 General Assembly in Atlanta. 

The first Korean-American moderator, Jun is a founding member and ruling elder at New Life Fullerton (PCA). He was first ordained as an elder in 1993. In addition to his work as moderator, Jun was part of the Racial and Ethnic Reconciliation Study Committee approved by the 44th General Assembly.

Jun earned his Ph.D. degree in education administration and policy from the University of Southern California, his master’s degree in higher education counseling from California State University, Los Angeles, and his bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology from the University of Southern California.

Called to serve the Lord in academia, Jun teaches at Azusa Pacific University, one of the largest Christian universities in the U.S. Jun and his wife, Jeany, have three children.

Since 1996, Novenson has served as pastor of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church (LMPC) in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. He received his bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Rider College and his master of divinity degree from Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. 

Prior to coming to LMPC, Novenson served churches in Lexington, South Carolina, and Augusta, Georgia. He has served on the board of Covenant Theological Seminary and is a conference speaker at various churches and institutions, both nationally and internationally. He and his wife, Barb, have three children and four grandchildren.

Pope is the founding pastor and lead teacher of Perimeter Church in Johns Creek, Georgia. After graduating from the University of Alabama, Pope received his master of divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary. He planted Perimeter Church in 1977, and since then Perimeter and its daughter churches have started more than 30 churches in the Atlanta area. 

Pope’s personal passion and commitment is to make and train disciples of Christ. He founded Life-On-Life Ministries, an organization committed to establishing life-on-life missional discipleship in churches worldwide. A guest lecturer at numerous universities and graduate schools, Pope is the author of several books and study guides. He and his wife, Carol, have four grown children and 14 grandchildren. 

The 2018 General Assembly schedule represents a departure from recent assemblies. The Assembly will take place in three days (June 13-15) rather than four days. To accommodate the shorter schedule, the Wednesday worship service will take place at 1:30 p.m.; Thursday’s service will begin at 7:30 p.m.; and on Friday, Randy Pope will offer a worship devotional before the start of business.
