Chapell has served as the senior pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Illinois, since 2013, and has devoted his entire career to pastoring churches and training others to do the same.
Chapell will teach the introductory homiletics courses to master’s-level students and also contribute to the biblical preaching and teaching track in the Doctor of Ministry program.
The committee voted to hire Chapell as Stated Clerk Pro-Tempore, approve budgets, and endorse Taylor’s FAQ answers.

According to a release from Covenant Theological Seminary the Board of Trustees, at its April 2012 meeting, unanimously moved forward with a goal set in prior years to transition President Bryan Chapell to the role of Chancellor.
At its Spring stated meeting of April 27-28, 2012, the Board of Trustees of Covenant Theological Seminary voted to approve the transition of Dr. Bryan Chapell from President of the seminary to Chancellor.
