Thomas A. Cook, Dead at 95

(From the Sun-Sentinel) The Rev. Thomas Allan Cook, 95, of Delray Beach, went home to be with his Lord on June 26, 2012.

Cook was predeceased by his wife, Nell Deane, in 2001. He is survived by his son Thomas, Jr. (Sharon); daughters Susanne (Jack) Griffith, and Heidi Cook; also grandchildren Shannon C. (John) Durrant, Kristin C. (Ted) Arditti, Courtney C. (T.J.) Jenkins, Jennifer G. (Johnston) Boyd, Amy Griffith; and seven great-grandchildren.

Tom was Area Manager of Sherwin-Williams Paint Co., Past President of the downtown Ft. Lauderdale Rotary Club, and served as Chairman of the Presbytery Committee which established new churches in S. FL. In this capacity Tom was instrumental in planting over 15 Presbyterian Churches, including Coral Ridge and Seacrest Presbyterian.

In 1968, at age 51, Tom responded to God’s call to the pastorate. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary and pastored 2 churches in Mississippi. After his “retirement” Tom served as Evangelist/Interim pastor to churches in GA, MN, Australia, Grand Cayman, Belize and Florida. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Seacrest Church.
