Rev. Gene Leroy Fackler, 87, slipped peacefully into the arms of his Savior, on January 22, 2016, at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community.

Gene was born on February 3, 1928 in Price, Utah to Frank and Peggy Fackler. He grew up in San Francisco, California, which is where a mutual friend introduced him to the love of his life, Sally Lou Young, on a San Francisco cable car. They were married on June 16, 1951 and have enjoyed 64 years of marriage.

He graduated from San Francisco State University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. It was while in college that he felt the call to the ministry and soon after graduation they moved to Philadelphia where he attended Faith Theological Seminary in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor of Divinity degree. He was ordained in the Reformed Presbyterian Evangelical Synod and then later by the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA). He pastored three churches, all in Pennsylvania: Eighty-Four, Quarryville, and Philadelphia. During those years God blessed them with five children.
