P&R Publishing and the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals (ACE) will sponsor a conference May 5–7, 2014, for pastors, elders, and ministry leaders. The first pastors’ conference co-sponsored by the two organizations, it will be held at the Harvey Cedars Bible Conference in Harvey Cedars, N.J.

The conference, titled “The Faithful Shepherd: Persevering in Your Church and Ministry,” will address a few important issues that inevitably arise in church ministry.

Speakers include:

Harry Reeder III, pastor of Briarwood PCA in Birmingham, Ala., and author of “From Embers to a Flame: How God Can Revitalize Your Church” (P&R, 2008), will address the challenges of revitalizing a church.

Tim Witmer, professor of practical theology at Westminster Theological Seminary and author of “The Shepherd Leader: Achieving Effective Shepherding in Your Church” (P&R, 2010), will address the seven principles of effective elders.

Ed Welch, teacher and counselor with the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF) and author of “When People Are Big and God Is Small” (P&R, 1997), will address the peer pressure that leaders face in ministry.

Steve Estes, pastor of Community Evangelical Free Church in Elverson, Pa., and co-author of “When God Weeps” with Joni Eareckson Tada (Zondervan, 2000), will address how to deal with “angry sheep.”
