In this installment of PCA Voices, Mike Higgins, dean of students at Covenant Theological Seminar and pastor of South City Church in St. Louis, reflects on how the PCA can attract and welcome minority leadership. Higgins’ journey to the PCA was marked by a series of friendships with welcoming individuals who affirmed that the denomination would benefit from more minorities like Higgins.

“I do believe we need more people to provide more voices, more seats at the table so that we can actually hear from people who are now just kind of ‘those people over there,'” Higgins said. “Instead of reading about them or watching that demographic on television and forming our understanding of them, if we get them at the table, then it will feel more like what we say at South City [Church]: ‘We are in an uncommon family.'”
