Worship, Music, and Ministry at 38th Assembly

The PCA’s 38th General Assembly, to be held June 28-July 2 in Nashville, Tenn., will center on the theme “Love, Sing, Wonder,” after a hymn of John Newton, who wrote “Amazing Grace.”

Each summer, PCA commissioners gather at General Assembly (GA) to conduct church business and enjoy worship, fellowship, networking, and training. “As a body we transact ecclesiastical business, review the past year’s ministry, prepare for the future, and deal with significant theological issues,” said Dr. L. Roy Taylor, stated clerk of the PCA.

Covenant College will again coordinate dozens of seminars for GA participants, with topics including: “What the Church Can Learn from Minorities,” “Forging a Third Way Between the Emerging and the Traditional,” and “The PCA—A Way Forward: What We All Can Agree On and Why We Should Stay Together.”

Other featured activities at GA include:

--The first ever Indelible Grace Hymnsing sponsored by RUF at the Historic Ryman Auditorium. The event will be held Wednesday, June 30, at 8:30 p.m.

--Evening worship services led by Mark Davis, senior pastor of Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas; George Robertson, senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Augusta, Ga.; and Scott Roley, senior pastor of Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tenn.

--A full slate of women’s and children’s activities, including a mercy tour, a Wednesday luncheon featuring speakers Darlene and Scotty Smith, and a youth service project coordinated by the Nashville Host Committee.

--Mission to North America (MNA) will host an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher training on June 28 and 29. Two tracks will be offered: one that covers the basics of starting an ESL ministry in a church, and one that focuses on teacher training. To learn more, visit www.pca-mna.org.
