Ridge Haven Makes Improvements
Ridge Haven has made extensive improvements on its 900-acre camp and conference center property in anticipation of hosting a large array of visitors in 2010, according to new executive director Wallace Anderson. “We added a 100-foot water slide into Lake Morse, a beautiful timber frame worship pavilion, several new camping villages, remodeled several lodges, and blazed two new hiking trails in the wilderness,” he said. “With these improvements, Ridge Haven will now be able to have several camps operating on the property at the same time.”
Ridge Haven has also expanded its 2010 summer camp schedule and format. Along with the traditional summer camp option of students being shepherded by trained counselors, churches have the option of sending their own youth leaders to act as their group’s primary counselors, or they can use Ridge Haven facilities to host their own individual/Presbytery camp.
Anderson credits much of the recent momentum at Ridge Haven with the generosity of donors. “The Lord blessed us with a $50,000 year-end match that we exceeded by almost $20,000,” he said. “In addition, we had the best December giving in years. All of this has helped us expand our ministry and make improvements to the property.”
The year-end grant also allowed Ridge Haven to start a new scholarship program for summer camps to help those who cannot afford it come otherwise.
