The 36th General Assembly recently denied an overture from the Philadelphia Presbytery to form a study committee to investigate Scripture’s teaching on women deacons. In its response, the Overtures Committee encouraged local study and discussion, rather than the proposed denomination-wide study.

In reply, the PCA Historical Center has gathered resources to help guide those discussions, and to provide historical background for those interested in learning more about the work of deacons and the role of the diaconate.
