2010 Global Missions Conference Seeks to Draw Students

MTW hopes to draw many college students to the upcoming 2010 PCA Global Missions Conference, with the goal of introducing a new generation to missions. The conference, to be held November 5-7 in Chattanooga, Tenn., will be co-sponsored by Covenant College.

“This is the first time that the event will be held outside of Atlanta,” said Jack Beall, MTW’s director of church resourcing and director of the Global Missions Conference (GMC). “This will also be the first year that Covenant College is partnering with MTW to co-sponsor the event.”

The PCA Global Missions Conference, held every three years, is an opportunity to focus exclusively on missions. “It’s a time where representatives from across the PCA and Mission to the World come together for worship and encouragement,” said Beall.

As part of the conference’s student appeal, the schedule includes a Saturday night concert for students with Christian hip-hop artist Shai Linne. Additionally, a special scholarship rate of $100 is available for a limited time for full-time undergraduate and graduate students.

“Jesus is building His Church today, just as He has been from the beginning,” said Beall. “And, amazingly, He calls and privileges us to be involved with Him.”

Worship during the conference will be led by Wade Williams (Perimeter Church-Duluth, Ga.), Eric Johnson (Redeemer Presbyterian Church-Athens, Ga.), James Ward (New City Fellowship-Chattanooga, Tenn.), and musicians from Chattanooga’s North Shore Fellowship. The GMC will cover a variety of topics of interest to church missions committees, students, missionaries, and laypeople through both the plenary sessions—featuring Paul Kooistra, coordinator of MTW, and Joe Novenson, senior pastor of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church—and dozens of individualized seminars.
