MNA Forms Special Needs Ministry

Mission to North America (MNA) recently formed a Special Needs Ministry, in keeping with its commitment to promote diversity within the body of Christ.

“This group represents a minority defined not by race or nationality, but by differing abilities,” said Stephanie Hubach, director of MNA’s Special Needs Ministry. “Our ministry involves individuals with special needs and their families.”

People with disabilities represent some 20 percent of the population within North America, yet they are vastly underrepresented in church life.

“Ignorance of those with special needs is one thing, but indifference is more complex,” said Hubach. “It’s a matter of the heart. The only true remedy for indifference is a heart broken by the gospel of grace.”

The Special Needs Ministry’s goal is to exhort, encourage, educate, and equip PCA agencies, presbyteries, and individual congregations on “why and how” to minister to and alongside people with disabilities.
