Living Christ 360: God's Grace on a Daily Basis
“Our family is currently in an extended period of struggle affecting most areas of our existence, and Living Christ 360 takes me back to my Father's heart. I find precious grace and humility in your words and I am refreshed.”
These are the words from a listener of “Living Christ 360,” a new online extension of Covenant Theological Seminary designed to help people explore God’s grace in every sphere of life.
The Living Christ 360 Web-based initiative, which began last September, features a daily broadcast with Dr. Bryan Chapell, president of Covenant Theological Seminary. Visitors are also encouraged to download more than 1,000 free resources, which include sermons, podcasts, daily devotionals, and classes.
“We created Living Christ 360 as an extension of our commitment to train pastors and those who serve beside them,” said Stacey Fitzgerald, vice president of media and organizational development for Covenant Theological Seminary. “We wanted people to be able to experience Covenant’s message of God’s grace on a daily basis.”
The overwhelming response in 2005 to the Seminary’s launching of the online "Worldwide Classroom" encouraged the school to craft Living Christ 360. “After more than 2 million people worldwide visited our [Worldwide Classroom] site and crashed our server, we saw that there was a hunger for this kind of resource. We were amazed by how many people all over the world sought further education and teaching,” said Fitzgerald. “We continued to ask, ‘Lord, what next?’ Living Christ 360 was the next iteration.”
New Friday Discussions Encourage Interaction
Beginning in 2009 Living Christ 360 began offering Friday discussions with guest professors who speak on a variety of topics. In February, Dr. Bryan Chapell and Dr. Jay Sklar discussed what the Bible says about evil and suffering [now available at byFaithonline.com in the Podcast section]. In March, Bryan and psychiatrist Richard Winter discussed God’s grace applied to perfectionism, anxiety and worry, and depression. In April, Jerram Barrs joined Bryan to further explore how we can grow in prayer and evangelism.
Living Christ 360 intends to continue this discussion format with various ministry partners to address a wide variety of topics.
“We’re simply using what God has given so graciously to us, and we love watching what the Lord is doing through it,” said Fitzgerald.
