Linking Pastors and Worship Leaders

What’s one key to cohesive corporate worship? Unity among pastors and worship leaders, according to David Hampton, director of worship and the arts at Christ Community Church (PCA) in Franklin, Tenn.

“Each role is different but complements the other,” says Hampton. “We all have the same goal—worshiping the living God.”

The interplay between pastors and worship leaders will be examined during the 2008 “Worship of God” conference, April 17-19, at Christ Community Church in Franklin.

“I was hearing from so many places that this was an issue worth exploring,” said Hampton. “It will be great to get everyone together to talk about these things, because it’s clear that each component is important. The offering is no less a worship element than the singing or the preaching of the Word of God.”
Now in its seventh year, Worship of God brings together lead worshipers from across the country to share thoughts, present ideas, network, and seek renewal for those who lead others in worship.

“We hope this conference will give music and worship people a place to come and be rejuvenated, because all year they give to their churches,” said Hampton.

The Worship of God conference, with the theme of “Sacred Stewardship,” will offer guest speakers, musical guests, plenary sessions, and break-out/workshop sessions with discussions and open forums. Speakers will include Scotty Smith, David Hampton, Nate Larkin, Greg Thompson, and Kevin Twit.
