Leverett Announces New "Rebirth International"
Mercy minister leader Mo Leverett has announced the formation of Rebirth International, a New Orleans-based organization focused on revitalizing pockets of poverty worldwide.
“My main goal is to inspire others to works of mercy and to recruit and train the next generation of incarnational ministry and movement leaders,” said Leverett. “We need to impact desperate areas with the love of Christ.”
Leverett has been doing incarnational urban ministry in the New Orleans area for more than 20 years. In 1990 he founded Desire Street Ministries, which eventually went on to operate a boys’ school, host a health clinic, and participate in community development.
Leverett and Rebirth International are now focused on reviving indigenous ministry operations in New Orleans, as well as consulting with existing ministries and churches that are interested in launching or enhancing works among the poor. They are also pursuing ways to expand and replicate incarnational ministry models in pockets of poverty around Louisiana, in the U.S., and worldwide.
In addition to this ministry in New Orleans, Leverett has released a CD entitled Of Orphans and Kings. The CD is a reflection of Leverett’s spiritual pilgrimage through the hardships surrounding Hurricane Katrina, and his journey toward hope and joy. (Proceeds from the sale of Of Orphans and Kings will go toward Rebirth International.)
