Getting in Gear for General Assembly

The 36th PCA General Assembly (GA) will take place June 10-13, in Dallas, Texas. Some 1,500 commissioners and their families will travel from all over the U.S. to attend this year’s meeting, themed “Proclaim the Gospel of Grace.”

“We’re looking forward to a great conference,” said John Mulkey, chairman of the GA Host Committee in Dallas. “We have a full agenda of women’s and children’s activities, a slate of seminars coordinated by Covenant College, and we’ll have Phil Ryken, David McWilliams, and E.J. Nusbaum preaching in the worship services.”

Mulkey, an engineer and ruling elder who has been a part of the PCA for 20 years, has taken part in the two previous PCA General Assemblies held in Dallas—in 1995 and 2001. “We’re hoping it will be better than ever this year.”
To date, nine overtures have been submitted for GA, including one to “require affirmation of the Apostles’ Creed for membership,” one to “make profession of faith declarations mandatory,” and another to “erect a study committee on deaconesses.”
