February WIC Leadership Conference - Valuing Connectedness

No one can deny that ours is an isolated, disconnected culture—especially for women. “Susan Hunt uses the illustration of women hiding in ‘caves of isolation,’” said Jane Patete, women’s ministry coordinator for the PCA’s Christian Education and Publications (CE&P) committee. “Some are isolated by busyness and others by a fear of getting too close to others.”

But God clearly calls women in the church to covenant connectedness, says Patete, who is organizing the upcoming Women in the Church (WIC) Leadership Training Conference, February 28-March 1, in Atlanta, Ga. The conference theme is “The Big Picture: Our Privilege and Purpose as Women in God's Church.”
Some 200 PresWIC leaders, Bible study leaders, local women’s leadership, and ministry directors from all over the country are expected to attend the annual conference, which will offer practical tools to train and equip them to disciple and train other women in their congregations.

“We have such unity in Christ,” said Patete. “It’s important to realize the value of investing in biblical relationships.”

In addition to hearing plenary sessions by Dr. Roy Taylor, stated clerk of the PCA, Rev. Alan Johnson, senior pastor of Old Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Duluth, Ga., and CE&P consultant Susan Hunt, women at the conference will attend a number of breakout sessions and regional training sessions.
