Assembly Elects Bradley as Moderator

On Tuesday night, Brad Bradley, ruling elder of Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas, was elected moderator of the 37th General Assembly (GA) of the PCA, in Orlando, Fla.

“I am humbled to be elected to this position,” said Bradley, a businessman who founded the Southwest Church Planting Network in 1998. During his acceptance speech, he expressed concern that for the first time in its history, the PCA has recorded negative membership growth. Bradley urged commissioners to consider the “every church plant a church” strategy demonstrated in a recent Mission to North America (MNA) video.

Bradley also urged full participation in the Assembly, encouraging every presbytery to send representatives to the annual meeting, thereby enabling the PCA’s representative form of government to function properly.

Only one other nominee was submitted during the moderator election, retired public school administrator Richard Springer of Allenwood, N.J.

Frank Barker, pastor emeritus of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Ala., praised Bradley’s experience and insight in his nomination speech: “Brad will do an outstanding job in this position. He has balanced views as a leader, broad experience both in business and within the PCA, and deep roots in the denomination.”

Bradley currently serves as executive director of the Southwest Church Planting Network and will soon be joining Mission to North America (MNA) as its Western Regional Coordinator.

“I’m looking forward to a great session at GA this year,” Bradley told byFaith. “I hope we can come together and work through our business effectively and efficiently and come to agreement on issues that could be divisive.”

Regrettably, I am unable to attend this year's General Assembly. However, I was thrilled to learn earlier this evening of the election of Brad Bradley as moderator. Brad has been a good friend to me in recent years, for which I am grateful, and he has proven to be well beyond competent and a tremendous encouragement to many in the exercising of his numerous gifts as a ruling elder in Christ's Church. I am confident he will be an outstanding moderator. Best wishes, Brad. I'll be praying for you and the Assembly this week. God bless.

I too am not at the Assembly. If there, I would have supported my friend and fellow clerk Ric Springer. And I hope next time the RE cycle is back, we can elect Ric. However, I am glad that Mr Bradley who shows a long time support for Church Planting is this years Moderator. I hope he can use his influence to promote a more aggressive stance toward Church Planting in USA & all over world. We need to recapture this focus! Recently, it has been diluted by many other good things.
Blessings to all the brethren at GA!

I am thrilled to see Brad elected as Moderator; he is a great laborer in the Lord's vineyard and has always been active in Assembly matters. Sorry I am not there to watch.

I too am thrilled with the election of RE Brad Bradley as Moderator of the 37th GA of the PCA. Brad has been a source of God's grace and mercy to me and my family and of long time service to many churches in the North Texas Presbytery. What a humble and capable servant of Christ's church. We wish we were able to be there this year to participate in the GA and to have first hand experienced Brad's election.

Congradulations to Brad, my childhood friend, and fellow worker within the PCA for God's glory.
