2010 Mercy Ministries Conference
For the second time, the Mercy Ministries Conference hosted by the PCA’s Christian Education and Publications (CE&P) and Mission to North America (MNA), will be held in the inner city environs of New City Fellowship in Chattanooga, Tenn.
“The emphasis of this conference will be on ministry to the poor,” said Bob Edmiston, training consultant for CE&P, “so having it at New City Fellowship offers an extraordinarily beneficial location.”
The 2010 conference, to be held March 11-13, will provide seminars and teaching ranging from ministry to the disabled to providing financial counseling to helping those with sexual addictions, with the overall focus of working with the poor.
“For many years the evangelical church viewed mercy ministry in the context of the social gospel and turned away from it,” said Edmiston. “But in every wing of the PCA there’s been an awakening to become more involved, and I think this conference is one tool God has used to stir up interest …. We know that God is always concerned for the least of these.”
Speakers at the 2010 Mercy Ministries Conference will include Randy Nabors, Gene Johnson, Steve Corbett, Thurman Williams, Stephanie Hubach, Mark Casson, and Dion Marshall, with worship by James Ward.
