Irv Wicker Funeral Sept. 14

WICKER, Irving Benjamin, Jr. retired Lt. Col. USAF, age 87 and resident of Prattville, Ala. passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013.

Wicker was long-time chair of the committee on nominations and served as moderator of the Presbytery of Southeast Alabama. At the 1992 PCA General Assembly he chaired the committee of commissioners on Interchurch Relations.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. from First Presbyterian Church of Prattville followed by Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Rev. Bryant Hansen and Rev. Henry Lewis Smith officiating. Wicker is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margery I. Wicker; three daughters, Nancy W. Jones, Janet Maddox (Wayne) Thomas, and Irene W. (Peyton) Langford; one son James I. (Marilyn) Wicker. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue Wicker.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Margie (Danny) Fallen, Robert M. (Krista) Jones, III, Jim G. Wicker, Stacey (Stan) Massengale, Shanna (Jeff) Taylor, Brent (Karla) Maddox, Jessica Langford, Lindsey Langford and twelve great-grandchildren.

Wicker served in World War II, moved to Prattville in 1962 and retired from the USAF in 1969. He served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, ruling elder and clerk of session for First Presbyterian Church of Prattville. Pallbearers will be Robert M. Jones, III, Brent Maddox, Jim G. Wicker, Danny Fallen, Stan Massengale and Jeff Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be the Officers of First Presbyterian Church.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church (Organ Fund), 148 South Chestnut St., Prattville, Ala. 36067.
