Reasoning Together is dedicated to four purposes (represented by seven content tabs):
Conversation We provide opportunities for people to express their opinions about important issues and for our readers to respond to those opinions (thus the name); many of the posts will concern issues about which good people in our denomination disagree. You may find two elders with opposing viewpoints on an issue engaging in dialog about it; or we may post a thought-provoking article advocating a position and you will be invited to contribute your reasoned responses.
- Note: we consider a reasoned response to be (a) thoughtful and (b) respectful to opposing viewpoints. You are responsible for the thoughtfulness of your contribution; we reserve the right to determine if they are respectful.
- It should be noted that the appearance of a post under this tab does not imply its endorsement by Reasoning Together or by any committee or agency of the PCA,
Information: We provide information that our church leaders need to know.
- Under the tab PCA News, you will find news about what’s happening at the upcoming GA or has happened at the most recent GA, about key ministry initiatives being taken within the PCA, and other news specifically related to our denomination. We will occasionally offer “feature articles” that we believe will benefit you as leaders in your congregations and presbyteries.
- Under Issues and Answers, we will present new proposals being offered by the Committees and Agencies of the church and provide a link to their explanations of those proposals.
- Under the tab Other News, you will find news about what’s taking place outside the PCA that impacts the Christian world, both within the Church (particularly within other Presbyterian/Reformed bodies) and outside the Church .
- Under the tab Currents, we will provide news about cultural trends that impact the church, including some of the latest research.
Intercession: We solicit prayer for specific ministries of our churches, presbyteries and General Assembly. This is not the place to request prayer for personal matters such as the health needs of our members as important as that may be, but to support each other in the work we are doing. To submit a prayer request, you may fill out the form on the Prayer page.
Commentary: We post articles reflecting the editorial viewpoint of the site, the first of which explains that viewpoint.
Reasoning Together is here to serve the leadership of PCA churches. We hope others will benefit as well.
