Covenant College will host its annual Neal Conference on True Spirituality, Sept. 22 – 25, 2015.

Named in honor of Charles Neal, a former Covenant student, the conference seeks to connect students with influential thinkers. Dr. Steven Garber will be the guest speaker during chapel services Tuesday through Thursday. More importantly, according to Chaplain Grant Lowe, Garber will be available to engage with students over lunch and in informal settings throughout his time at Covenant.

Dr. Garber is the founder and principal of The Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation & Culture. He is the author, most notably, of “The Fabric of Faithfulness: Weaving Together Belief and Behavior” and “Visions of Vocation: Common Grace for the Common Good.”

“He has a distinctive view of the intersection of faith and life,” said Lowe. “He also has a special love and passion for college students as they move from adolescence to adulthood. During those three to four years, the habits, patterns, choices, and moral decisions they make, in lots of ways, set their course for the future.”

Lowe said Garber communicates a functional unity of life, combining faith, action, and belief. He believes Covenant students will be challenged to think not only about what they believe but also about how they will live it out.
