CEP Discipleship Conferences Focus on Kingdom Discipleship
By Megan Fowler

This fall and winter, Christian Education and Publications (CEP) will hold one-day and multi-day 2020Vision Discipleship conferences. The fall conference will take place on September 15, 2012, at The Cove in Asheville, N.C.; Covenant Theological Seminary will host the winter conference in St. Louis January 15-17, 2013.

The theme of the conferences is “The Whole Gospel to the Whole Church.” Sue Jakes, CEP education specialist, said this conference is for everyone in the church — staff, leaders, parents, and youth. “Discipleship is not a task for a few trained professionals but for all of God’s people,” Jakes said.

To that end, the one-day conference in Asheville at the Billy Graham Training Center will offer workshops with CEP staffers that cover a variety of topics from the importance of making kingdom disciples to preparing strong Bible lessons to taking ministry outside the classroom.

“Leadership will learn how to cast the vision and model disciple-making for their churches. Parents will learn how to take the Deuteronomy 6 plan and make it practical in their homes every day. Teachers will learn how to study and prepare Bible lessons that are life-changing. Everyone should come away with fresh perspectives on their roles in the kingdom as disciple makers,” Jakes said.

Details for the St. Louis conference have not yet been released, but the cost for the conference will be $119. The Asheville conference will be $35 and includes conference materials and lunch.
